The House of Vicuña
Atelier Amauta is a maison devoted entirely to vicuña, the rarest natural fiber on Earth. Founded between Argentina and France, the house pays homage to the origins of its founders while honoring a legacy that has endured in the Andes for centuries.
Our creations are crafted in the highlands by artisans descended from pre-Inca communities, guardians of an ancestral savoir-faire passed down through generations. Their hands transform the world’s most precious fiber into pieces defined by patience, respect and lineage. Every thread tells a story of origin and tradition.
Our signature creation is the vicuña throw, woven entirely by hand in the Andes. Once a year, during the ancestral chaku, communities gather to respectfully shear the animals before releasing them back into the puna. From this ritual emerges only a few hundred grams of fiber, a scarcity that makes each throw an object of profound rarity.
Produced in limited editions and fully traceable to their place of origin, our pieces are offered privately and exclusively by application, to those who share our reverence for authenticity, craftsmanship and the quiet power of the Andes.
Our Throws
Handwoven in the Andes using 100% pure vicuña, known as the fiber of the gods, these pieces are crafted from a fibre that is naturally light, warm and exceptionally fine. Formed at high altitude, vicuña retains warmth with minimal weight and carries the distinctive character of its origin.
Each throw measures approximately 200 × 130 cm and is finished with an Argentine cowhide leather label crafted exclusively for Atelier Amauta.
Wik’uña
Woven entirely in the natural
gold-brown tone of vicuña.
Wik’uña Qori
A gold-brown throw featuring a lower band that represents roughly 20% of the piece, created from a blend of natural white and gold-brown vicuña fibres.
Qori
Woven entirely in natural white vicuña. Only a few grams of white fibre are obtained in each chaku.
Bespoke & Collaborations
Beyond our signature throws, Atelier Amauta accepts a limited number of bespoke requests.
We also collaborate with select houses and institutions on dedicated pieces crafted with our artisans.
